This caught me so off guard.
Do at first it’s like “yeah that’s a pretty cool looking Taurus, nice functional stance, the headlight scoop is cool, not sure how or why it has that exhaust but it looks rad. Wait is that an inter cooler?
Then there’s the full race car interior.
Okay, something big is going on here. Is that a hydraulic hand brake? The. You see this
“No faith”
“No faith? You owe me a 10 second car, not a 10 minute car”
“Come on just pop the hood”
“1JZ engine, no shit!”
That’s a straight 6 going the right way, in very much the wrong car.
Here’s a kinda crappy video of it and it owner. This thing needs to go to the Hoonigan Burn Yard once people can travel safely again.

Okay, I gotta know, what’s the deal with 1JZ swaps? I feel like it’s the import equivalent of the LS swap. Are they super cheap or something?

Availability. They didn’t come in many cars here but Toyota sold them in 100,000s in Japan. And it’s a reliable cheap Ian way to make 500+ hp.

“Nice functional stance” tell that to the alignment guy who set up all that camber.

That’s a super unique build, but the stance is garbage.

Converting any car from fwd to rwd is impressive. The fabrication work must’ve been huge.

Basically. They’re dirt cheap, easy to find, fairly bombproof, can be boosted to the moon, and they sound good.

I like this.

Functional for its intended purpose

Take a look inside one, that combined with price/availability are reasons enough. The other nice thing is that factory NA cars share the bottom end witht the turbo cars, except for oil squirters on the pistons. The heads are a little different, but not enough care with a 88mm turbo hanging off the side. The only difference in the 1J and 2J is the 2J is a taller deck block. The Honda K series is quickly approaching similar status to the LS and 1J/2J engines for swaps. It’s hard to argue with $400 engine capable of 550hp/390 ft/lbs under boosted applications with a stock bottom end.

Thanks, that’s a lot of good info.
